The ScrapCake is up for sale!

It breaks my heart, but due to a chain of bad and great events in my private life I have to put The ScrapCake up for sale as it comes to no surprise that I am no longer able to provide smooth operation that this brand needs and deserves. So if you are interested please get in touch and drop me an email at michal@thescrapcake.com

Summer city beach layout

Hi everyone. I’m amazed how many different ways everyone is using the Summer City paper range – I’ve gone for the more ‘pretty’ shades – the pinks and blues, but the browns and greys also lend themselves nicely over to the colours of sand and the water. I mixed them up a little and came up with this. I have also used some of the Sweet Childhood range.

I love the tags and elements you can make from them by fussy-cutting.

I traced around the wording on the this tag to give it more definition.

And added a few Manor House Creations flowers as a finishing touch.

I hope you like this layout and it helps you to make your own beach projects using these papers.

Feminine-Masculine Tags from Maja

Hello TSC Fans, welcome to the blog :) It’s Maja again with new creations.

This time in my projects I wanted to focus on the alphabet sheets that accompany our latest collections. But I wanted to use them somehow different than just cutting out letters and composing a sentiment. And I got an idea to treat them like other dps, as a background elements :) And I created two tags, a feminine and a masculien one :)

The masculine version is a bit calmer in colours, combining deep blue and sand brown from the Summer City collection. The alphabet sheet from this collection makes the whole background here, with a few additional strips from the grey side of the sheet and some glimmer mist sprays.

On that background I put various elements: some chipboard gears, metal pointers and brads and a die-cut retro car:

Those elements create layers that I mounted on 3D tape for more interest.

Then I created a feminine tag in the same way, but here I added some more glamour with crystals and golden mist and embossing powder :)

The colours of the tag are brighter – juicy turqouise combined with rusty brown of the sheet from the One Moment In Time collection. The letters in the background come from the limited mini-alpha sheet the went with the My Private Happiness collection.

Just like in the masculine tag, I brought all the layers out from the background with some 3D tape:

I hope you liked my way for the alphabet sheets :)

Autumnal layout from Maja

Welcome to The ScrapCake blog today – Maja here with a dose of autumnal inspiration :)

I guess everybody’d agree that the most beautiful season of the year is summer (especially when taking into account the summer break ;) ). But autumn has its charms too! Particularly, the proverbial “Polish golden” one.The richness of warm colours of those last sunny days of the year gives this time a special character. And this is what I wanted to express with my today’s LO.

I looked for the shades of brown, orange and green in three TSC collections: Summer City, One Moment In Time and Summer At the Seaside – so that the colours match those in the photo. And since the colours are the focal motif, there are few other embellishments: decorative punched borders…

…layers and distressing…

…and autumnal-coloured flowers and leaves composition.

For more interest and dimension, I mounted the various layers on 3D tape.

And what colours is your autumn? :)

Anniversary cards from Maja

Maja welcomes all TSC Fans to the blog today :)

I love creating wedding cards. It’s one of the happiest moments in life when two people promise to each other love and common life. But I guess I love creating anniversary cards even more! They somehow prove that those people stayed true to their wedding vows, and despite various events that could have caused teh break-up of the relationship, they still carry on together, joined with the same feeling. And so for today’s post I have two such cards to share.

The first one is made using The Bright Side of Life papers (isn’t the name symbolic here? :) )

I combined the flowers printed on the paper with those I cut out and the dimensional ones:

The foacl element of the card is the stamped quotation from the Bible which I think fits the occassion perfectly (it reads: In three things I was beautified, and stood up beautiful both before God and men: the unity of brethren, the love of neighbours, a man and a wife that agree together. Sir. 25)

Then I completed the card adding some vintage ribbon and a metal charm in the shape of two hearts interwoven.

The second card is to celebrate teh 20th anniversary – traditionally called the porcelain one, thus I anted it to be delicate and light, with no unnecessary embellishments:

I made the card using my favourite collection, One Moment in Time :) To the beautiful design of the papers and delciate doily I added a little flower bouquet, matching it to the colour paltette with some glimmer mist:

For more interest, the card is an easel type, with the round sentiment stamp supporting the front:

I hope the couples that’d receive those cards would live happily on togheter, through successive anniversaries :)

Stunning layout from Trudi!

Hello, it’s Trudi here with my new TSC project for you!

The days are getting longer and a touch milder in my part of the world.  Soon it may be warm enough to venture to the beach and enjoy some time chasing some waves or in my youngest case, running from them.  Here she is doing what she loves best at the beach.

The My Private Happiness collection calls me for scrapping this happy memory. The colors and floral elements spell spring and summer fun.

The large decorative circle elements were hand cut from the  7 x 12 Creative Dreams.  This created a beautiful backdrop. Circle elements were also cut from The Beautiful Moments paper and layered over the top with pretty Manor House Creations flowers.

Some changes in TSC Family

Hello everyone, Karola here! Today’s post is filling me with sadness, since I must announce a few pretty sad newses.

With the end of September I am resign from the position of The ScrapCake Creative Director, DT Coordinator and Product Designer.

The time I spent with TSC was one of the most exciting experiences in my life – both social and professional. It had a great opportunity for learning many things but also I left behind much work. I’m so proud and happy to have been the part of TSC family from the very beginning until now when the TSC brand is well known around the world. I hope that my hard work also contributed to make the brand so popular.

Unfortunately the fate sometimes causes, that nothing lasts forever and at some point we should resign. When we feeling, that twenty-four hours really aren’t able to stretch and soon it will be hard  to cope with obligations – then we should realize the fact that it is a time to say goodbye. I put my heart and soul into creating TSC as a brand, coordinating Design Team and lots of other different actions. I strongly believe that my hard work will work a dream for a long time. I’d like to thank Michał for the huge confidence and the wonderful cooperation – we created a good, a little bit crazy team – oh, so good things to mention!

I’d also like to thank Maria, who helped me with coordinating an English part of the blog and who published blog posts when I was away. Thank to all present and former Designers. As I often say,  the present Design Team is my dream team. That’s a group of fabulous, amazingly talented and lovely women – I’ll miss you so much but I’m sure that we’re going to meet somewhere again.

Thank to all TSC Fans – The ScrapCake was created to bring you joy. You made it bigger, better, more popular and more matured! Thanks to your opinions I had a chance to look at it from different points of view. I used to design new collections because of you and I was as happy as a child when I could see your wonderful projects made with my papers.

Thank to all of you who gave me support and appreciated my work in TSC – it was wonderful time full of delightful moments and experiences.

That’s not all. I have some more news to announce. Three members of our DT decided to resign too. Today we say goodbye to invaluable Maria – Karmeleiro, Lari Albernaz and Tomoko Takahashi – three wonderfull members of our Design Team. Three totally talented women, three charming and very  dutiful persons. I’m sure that you – our Fans will miss them! Thanks for your hard work and involvement in co-creating TSC team – it was a gift to have you here! And now, just have a look at their  fabulous works:

And that’s the end of September – we hope that October brings you much of creative joy! Wish you all the best!

Beautiful Inspirations from Nerrida and Renia!

Hi everyone! Today Renia and I, Nerrida have some projects to share with you!

I have decided to utilise the colours of the grungy-style ‘Summer City’ collection, combined with some of the ‘Sweet Childhood’ elements, to showcase these photos of my youngest daughter playing in the sand. Don’t you love how they get so engrossed in the little things – like pouring water in and out of a cup a million times…..they get such pleasure from it.

I really love the little tags which you can fussy-cut and make into sunshine.

I traced around the ‘playtime’ word to accentuate it a little. I hope you like it.

My favorite paper from the “Summer City” collection is the grey Paradise paper, that’s for sure. I like it because it has so many different patterns. This paper made a perfect fit with a photo I wanted to scrap. I like challenges, so I decided to use — besides one sheet of paper — die-cuts elements designed for this collection ONLY. To be contrary, I used their left, “grey” side. I wanted all of the elements to make a single, monochromatic, fitting whole. To stress the grey, I added some blue elements. The result is a LO that commemorate one funny, spontaneous family photo session:

September Music Day!

Hello TSC Fans! It’s a Music Day today here on TSC blog and our fantastic Design Team created some amazing inspiration for you!

I altered this little wood box using the Sweet Childhood Collection and made it into a little music box.  I love collecting musical boxes and I wanted to create my own little box.  It has a little drawer on the bottom too and I am keeping vintage music sheets inside.  I love pianos and I like to play piano …the little bit of piano I know. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did putting it together :)

My layout has been inspired by Elton John’s song ‘Tiny Dancer’.  It was the perfect choice for my dancing little fairy.  I have combined 3 The ScrapCake collections in the creation of this – Summer City, My Private Happiness and Sweet Childhood.

I like to save the favourite fragments of songs lyrics. So, I always have a lot of it, and my memory isn’t the best therefore I created mini notebook to keep my favorite lyrics. I used the Summer City collection.

My youngest little girl loves to sing her favourite sone ‘ABC’  But she’s so funny when she gets to  L M and O, she runs them together and sings ‘leno meno’ Very cute! I used Sweet Childhood collection.

I want  to dedicate my today’s layout to all the parents of disabled children. They only know how many time and energy they need to devote and they only know how many joys such children are bringing. And such are the words of Lady Gaga’s song “Born this way”. Let us love such children because they are which are and we won’t change it, but we can cause that their life will be happy… I used here Summer City collection.

Thank you so much for visit us today! Have a wonderful and creative week!

Children Cards From Pamela & Maja

Pamela and Maja welcome you to TSC blog today :)

For today’s dose of inspiration we chose to create some children cards. And of course, we decided to use fabulous Sweet Childhood collection for this purpose – those both delicate and colourful papers are perfect for kid cards, just have a look!

This first card is full of punched circles.  My circle punch was one of the first tools I bought when I started scrapbooking and card-making and it is still one of my favorite tools today.  I love the look of the white on white, so I added one row of patterned paper and two rows of white.

And then on this second card I took one of the pieces of white cardstock that I had punched circles from and put it on my card :)   I just layered it on patterned paper.  And then instead of adding my focal point in the center of the card, this card (like the first one too) has my image off-centered for a fun, more unexpected look.

Just like Pamela, I made two cards, one for a boy and the other for a girl. For the first one I used the boy’s photo and chose soft blue-toned papers to complete the background for it. The triangle banner is one of my favourite motives, so I stamped the little birthday guy’s name on it :)

For the girl’s card I selected pink patterns and added some blue dots to break the sweetness :) Instead of a photo I included a hand-coloured stamped image, matching the colours with the papers. The sentiment is stamped onto a tag from die-cuts set.
