Hello TSC fans! Kuba here, again!
Today I have for you – all children big and small, double-long post – I’ll show you my tutorial on create magnet and invite you to take our first Children’s Department Challenge!!
As a welcome and as the youngest The ScrapCake DT member, I decided to make a magnet which reminds me that day I joined TSC team. Bonjour The ScrapCake! What’s more, this magnet will welcome us when entering my kitchen. What a nicer thing you find in the morning than such a greeting? Cause we don’t drink coffee with my mum.
I used The Scrapcake paper collection called „Spring Awakening” to make this magnet. According to me it suits to the morning and to the greeting as well.
And now, I’m going to present my way of preparing such a magnet:
I traced a cardboard, you can use any shape you want, even a circle or rectangle of course.
Then you cut it out. When it’s done, don’t worry if some pencil lines are visible. We can distress the edges and no lines will be seen. I used special, safety scissor and I think this is the best way.
When your edges are distressed, it’s time to fix a magnet. Unfortunately, I was a little bit absent-minded and I did it too late, but luckily, the glue was still wet.
And now you may decorate it with what you’ve got. If you don’t have something, just borrow from your mother! Doilies, buttons, flowers. Oh, flowers! You can do them by yourself! Now I’m going to show you my way of decorating the magnet. I traced a paper doily with a pencil. You may use a bigger piece of it but I didn’t want to cover the whole paper because it’s full of jolly dots.
I decorated it with anything on hand. Prima flower and my roses. I contrived an idea to add welcoming inscriptions but if you don’t have any, choose some other nice words. I had a French inscription „Bonjour”. You can even have „good morning”, „hi” or even „Hello Kitty” on the magnet. The most important is to make such a magnet that will make you smile in the early morning. And this is the moment when I was absent-minded cause I didn’t add a magnet! The magnet should be big because when you add lots od embellishments the hole construction will be heavy and the magnet may not lift it. In conclusion – no greeting in the morning!
At the end I added some small decorations and of course butterflies as it is „Spring Awakening!” I like such mornings and my mum with her smile. Oh Bonjour mon Cheri…
I encourage you to make such a greeting magnet. This is a nice gesture for everybody who enters your kitchen. Even if he only wants to open a fridge and sees an „welcome gourmand” inscripition, surely he’ll smile! Won’t he? That’s true! I’d have a good laugh!
So, get to work! The more that today’s tutorial is an incentive to create a magnet for our:
