A Christmas Tri-Shutter Card

Hello everyone! I don’t like starting Christmas in autumn. There are leaves falling, not snow, the house doesn’t yet smell gingerbread cakes and dried mushrooms, there’s no glittering Christmas tree – and I don’t feel that joyous atmosphere of waiting for the first star. And so every year I’m among the last to present Christmas cards. But on the other hand… if you’re as slow in creating as I am, you’d better start making Christmas cards in November.

All right then, here I begin! Slowly, calmly, just for a warm-up – and so today just one card, but not to make you too bored, I made a funny shape card :) Here’s my first Christmas card this year: a tri-shutter and our Cozy Xmas collection:

The card only looks complicated, it’s really simple to make! Here’s a template I prepared:

It’s easiest to cut a 30×30 cm sheet, thus you get bases for two cards (but the measurements don’t matter so much, proportions are most important – I made my tri-shutter using the Twinkling Stars sheet). If you use the above tempalte, score vertically every 10 cm, then mark A,B and C, D points and cut between them (red lines). Now the point is to fold the card correctly – you do it alternatingly, the first folds (the long one and the two short, by A and C points) up and then the next down and so on.

Now you are ready to decorate your base: I usually cut pieces of papers for each segment, measuring them 0,5 cm less than the segments.

The folded tri-shutter looks like this:

I cut some decorative motives and attached them (some on 3D foam) to the base and decorated with crystals and glitter. Here’s also the place to let your imagination go away with you when it comes to dimensional embellishments, the inside should be more “flat”, otherwise the card will not close properly.

The next part is for Christmas wishes:

…and the last one is a mini scene from a winter forest :) Here I didn’t glue any background papers as I wanted to make use of the printed stars. Glitter stands for the snow :)

A tri-shutter is not just a wishes card – it can make another Christmas home decor: when open, it’s stands on its own and catches the eye :)

hugs!
