Welcome to another day of TSC Flower Power Week
When I first saw photos of English style wedding cakes, I thought they were some kind of plastic – I couldn’t believe those masterpieces of confectionery were edible!
I hadn’t the chance to taste an English cake yet (I wouldn’t like to destroy such a wonder, anyway
), but they inspired me to create an embellishment for the wedding exploding box, which I made as a means of handing in a banknote gift
But hey, I am supposed to show some flowers, am I not? Surely, I have them too
In previous posts my talented friends Zuzia and Flo presented tutorials on how to create beatiful flowers. I also included a handmade flower, but it’s so easy it doesn’t even need a toturial
I simply sewed a piece of guipire ribbon with a baste stitch, pulled the thread at the end and the flower just made itself
Then I added a brad in the middle and glued the flower onto the box lid:
As you can see, I used the colour palette of chocolate, mint and icing white
I matched the flowers on the box lid with glimmer mists, and used the One Moment In Time papers to decorate the box, as their desings remind me of complicated decorations on English style cakes. Not to cover those designs too much, I just stamped some filigrees on the sides and decorated them with pearls:
Well, time to unpack the cake!
The inner sides are the places to place the banknotes and write in some wishes:
And here’s the two tier miniature I made, using some “chocolate” paper, roses with pearl “icing” and mint “creme”
Who knows, maybe I’ll make a real English style cake some day – now I have to content myself with a paper one – at least it doesn’t go bad and is a low-cal treat

Thank you for visiting the TSC blog today, and see you later

This is so pretty and delicate looking?
Hello Maja,
Beautiful presentation, I myself live in the UK and actually make cakes such as the ones you are describing. The English do love to splash out on confectionary and style especially when it comes to wedding cakes. I have left you my website address to check out some of my work if you are interested.
Thanks for the fantastic post.
I would like to…eat this one, may I?
Maja, this is amazing, sweetie!
Thank you so much for your sweet
comments!
